Parables of the Hidden Treasure and Pearl
Matthew 13:44-46
Key Verse 13:44
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”
Read Verse 44. What did Jesus say the kingdom of heaven is like? When a man found it, what three things did he do? What attitude or emotion did he display in doing these things? What can we learn about the value of the kingdom of God?
Read verses 45-46. What did Jesus say the kingdom of heaven is like this time? What can we learn from this merchant who was ‘looking for’ fine pearls? What did he do when he found one of great value?
3. Name three objects that you value. What do you do to look for them, find them, or buy them? How much more does Jesus want us to value the kingdom of God? How can you show that you value God’s kingdom?
