“But about the resurrection of the dead—have you not read what God said to you, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is no the God of the dead but of the living.”
Read verse 23. Who came to Jesus with a question? What was the Sadducees belief about the resurrection? Why might have it been difficult for them to believe in the resurrection of the dead?
Read verses 24-28. What story did the Sadducees tell to Jesus? What question did they ask? Why was this a difficult question to answer?
Read verses 29-30. Why were the Sadducees mistaken about the resurrection? How did Jesus describe the resurrection?
Read verses 31-33. How did Jesus prove the resurrection of the dead? Why does it make sense that Jesus is not the God of the dead but of the living?
