Question

HOW TO BE WITH JESUS

THROUGH PRAYER AND WORSHIP

(Prayer and Worship in the Name of Jesus)

  1. What privilege does Jesus give his disciples in approaching God (Mt 6:9)? Why is this profoundly significant (Jn 1:12; Ro 8:15-16; 1Jn 3:1)?

  2. What prayer topics did Jesus teach his disciples to pray in the model prayer (Mt 6:9-13)? How does this reflect the acronym PRAY: Praise, Repent, Ask, Yield?

  3. On what basis can Jesus’ disciples have confidence in prayer and worship (Heb 4:15-16, 10:19; 1Jn 5:14; Jn 14:13-14; Jn 4:23; Ro 8:26-27)?

  4. How do the following verses reflect these attitudes in prayer and worship: motive, humility, persistence, surrender, faith, perseverance, steadfastness, tenacity, wholeheartedness, consistency (Jas 4:3; Lk 18:1, 13; 22:42; Ro 12:1-2; Mk 11:24; 12:30; Mt 4:10; 1Thess 5:17; Eph 6:18)?

  5. What does it mean for a disciple of Jesus to worship God, personally and in community?
