Tepic UBF Pioneering News, Mexico by M. Joshua Bae

"Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?" (John 6:9)

IN TEPIC, I FOUND THE GOD OF THREE LOAVES AND TWO FISHES

1. - Admission to the Faculty of medicine UAN and studying

In February of 2008 my co-worker Esther and I came with our three daughters to Tepic, the capital of Nayarit, to pioneer the UAN (Universidad Autonoma de Nayarit). Because pastor Daniel Rhee had given me the direction to study medicine, we learn about the entrance exam to medical school. The exam will be on April 28, and had only a month and a half of time to study. I wanted to postpone the attempt for the next year. But shepherdess Esther urged me accept the challenge faith. So I enrolled at an open highschool. The exam consists of seven subjects: Spanish, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, history. The score required for admission was at least 650 points in the average school and the exam. But we pray that God would give me over 700 points so that only the name of God was glorified. The score was 702 points. Almost half the students at the faculty of medicine gain entry into the second or third attempt. But God allowed me to enter with enough points in the first attempt. Through this we see clearly that God is with us, hears our prayers and is glad of our coming to Tepic.

The first semester began in August. The faculty of medicine of the UAN received accreditation from the federal government and its program is very demanding. Besides I had to write message for each Sunday worship service, serve God's work, work to support my family and respond. My colleagues have 7 days to study. I have only 5 days, and not full of other responsibilities. The truth, what I can do to study medicine, to serve God's work and support my family is very small, like five loaves and two fishes. But by faith I did with all my might I what could do, and I trusted in God. Then God gave me victory in all respects. Especially if I could not study on weekends, or rest, God has helped me to get 95 ratings on average. When I had the faith of five loaves and two fish, I was free of comparison to my peers and worry, and God gave me victory in the study.

2.- The work of the gospel

Since we arrived in Tepic, in the midst of all occupations began fishing. And in the second half of 2008 we got some sheep of 1:1 Bible study: Raul Lorenzo, Jorge, Janet, Jose Manuel (dentistry), Lucero (architecture) and Martin (medicine). They studied the Bible constantly. And the year 2009 in the conference we had the Easter resurrection. It included 4 sheep: Raul Lorenzo, George and Janet. Among them was a person, Raul was exceptional. The word of God changed the interior and the life of Raul. Before the self-insecurity and nervousness he could not attend to patients in practice, and failed the field. But Bible study changed inside, and now he is on excellence in clinical practice. So far Raul has studied the Bible faithfully, and from the second half of 2009 has been attendant worship service. During the week he stays in Tepic, weekends and go home which is about an hour by bus Tepic. However he attends worship service every Sunday and gives offering. He presided over the ceremony of Christmas of 2009. We are praying for God to set Raul as the owner of the work in the UAN.

3.- The material Issue

My job is to teach acupuncture and care for patients. I had this work set in Guadalajara. But we left Guadalajara and came to Tepic. The truth is when we came to Tepic, was concerned about the labor issue. Tepic is like two hours from Guadalajara. I planned to go to Guadalajara to work every weekend. But I would not know how in Guadalajara at work, if I live at Tepic. Besides the trip and the work would be heavy, and have to pay the extra costs of the allowance. But during those two years God has sent me to acupuncture students and patients in Guadalajara, and some patients in Tepic. God helped me endure the heavy work, and despite the extra costs, we never lacked money for a living.

4.- The Direction for 2010

My key verse of 2010, as well as John 6:9, is Matthew 6:33. "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things shall be added." The third semester was the hardest of three. And the study and the work absorbed me so that I could not find studies of 1:1. But they say the fourth semester is the hardest one of all medicine studies. If last semester I was so hard to studies of 1:1, how hard would it be in next semester? So I want to fight to obey the word of Matthew 6:33. Struggling to obey this word, I first want to study 1:1, and then study with the faith of five loaves and two fishes. Shepherdess Esther now also changed the music lessons of our daughters of the week on Saturdays, and may engage in the study of 1:1 during the week.

The Prayer Topics for 2010 are:

1) To get a 3 sheep faithful 1:1 study
2) May God give us deep and powerful message every Sunday
3) That Raul write his life testimony
4) That God will give the m. Joshua work in Tepic
